NYX Contour Palette Available in UK | Review

Hello Everyone!

Today I'm super excited to share with you my newest palette - The NYX Contour Palette which is available now in Selfridges!

I have wanted this palette for ages after seeing many American YouTubers using it and after a recent USA trip ruined my life by not having this palette in stock anywhere, I was convinced she would never be mine...

Then suddenly it happened. Browsing the pages of Selfridges I saw her, just begging to be bought!

After I immediately pressed that little buy button I did a merry jig, then a couple of days later she arrived - take your coat off love - you're home.

I really like the clear lid on the packaging, it reminds me of my MAC Pro Palettes.
The packaging does feel a little more expensive than other budget line palettes (although £18 might not be exactly on par with 'budget' lines so this helps me open my purse strings... not that I needed much persuasion).

Swatch wise you can see on the highlight shades that the two on the right are pretty much my skin tone, they pack as much pigment as the rest of the palette but because of my colouring they aren't picking up in the picture. I'm a MAC NC20 if you're interested.
The contour shades can run a little warm but they don't look muddy on my complexion, very very pale ladies and gents may need to have a light hand here in application.

Overall I'm so excited I finally landed the NYX Contour Palette in the UK and can't wait to play around with it a bit more.
You can grab it at Selfridges along with other bestsellers in the NYX world (butter lipsticks anyone?)

Have you got any recommendations from the NYX range? Are you picking this palette up?

Bloggers Worth Noting

Hello Everyone,

Today's post is a little different to the usual, I was tagged in the Starlight Blogger Award from the lovely Kara at Spread the Sparkle (who said some lovely things about me that gave me the warm fuzzies) and I was hit by a dilemma... to tag or not to tag.

So while I sat twitching by my computer for the weekend, worrying about tagging people (yeah I am that tragic) I came to a realisation - I can still spread the love without the fear of tagging!

Enter this post - Bloggers Worth Noting.

So without anymore endless waffling about my life struggles further ado, let's crack on with a list of blogs you need to be reading.

Kara - Spread The Sparkle : I'm a new reader to Kara's corner on the internet, a fellow fashion beauty and lifestyle blogger with a lovely sense of style who shares some of my top passions (beauty and books anyone?) combined with some lovely pictures of her adventures out and about in the Lifestyle section of Spread the Sparkle, this is one lovely lady not to miss.

Vix - Vix Meldrew : I've been reading everything Vix writes for ages now, she is absolutely hilarious and publishes a lot of posts I can 100% relate to (reasons she hates facebook was comedy gold!).
Add into the mix her penchant for travelling to Vegas (that gives me Vegas withdrawal sweats) and her gorgeous unique photography style (have a look you'll get it when you see it) and you have a blog here you'd be mad to miss.

Elle - The Elle Next Door : Elle is amazing, yeah I know that sounds stalk-tastic but she is, between her effortlessly cool fashion pictures to her drool worthy gluten free food posts (Elle has Coeliac Disease and has to eat a gluten free diet and since I also have a restrictive diet due to medical shizz this girl can relate!) and her hilarious write ups on her posts you might think you have it all covered? Nope! She also has a YouTube channel - Get subscribing.

Tamzin - Through New Eyes : I met Tamzin at a blogger event back in May and she is as lovely in real life as she comes across on her blog, as well as the diverse fashion and beauty posts she has, Tamzin also has some lovely Home Decor posts too.
Make sure you click on over to her corner of the internet and have a little peruse of her posts, you wont regret it.

Last of the Summer Weddings | Fashion

Hello Everyone,

Today we are discussing an event that strikes fear into the heart of the masses, The Summer Wedding.

It's a day when casual girls like me have to dress up, pretend to care about the mood music, make polite conversation with emotionally unstable people (usually the parents of the bride and groom) and generally pray for the day to end.

That being said, wedding time came, I went and this is what I wore - enjoy the awkward photos coming your way.

USA 1 - UK 0 | Physician's Formula

Hello Everyone,

Today's post is a little different, it is a quick nod and a well done across the pond to the elusive land of our makeup dreams (they have Lorac - nuff said!).

That place is, of course, the USA.

Now while I've been screaming the praises of American beauty products lately (due to a shamelessly large USA haul and well... Bloggers gon' Blog) the products of mention have tended to be higher end, (it Cosmetics and Lorac) but I can't carry on my life without talking about the packaging of Physician's Formula - be warned - there are about 8 million pictures coming your way:

USA 1 - UK 0 | Physician's Formula

Each individual product from Physician's Formula has cute and unique packaging, but what pleased me the most about all the products I have tried (and it isn't just these four featured now) is that each product I've had has had its own mirror and brush hidden in the back of the packing and while the brush isn't really groundbreaking, it is totally usable but the mirrors on the other hand, are excellent!

And finally let me just say that all of the products I've tried have been on par with some of my higher end products (once you get past the shimmery over-spray on some of the products within the first use or two) but they are all 'drugstore' products with the associated affordable pricing.

I know that some of the jazzier coloured packaging wont appeal to everyone but there's definitely something to suit all tastes in my opinion and packaging aside, the products are fantastic.

This leads me to one of two wishes for the UK, either we see some more fun but functional packaging on on high street or we get Physician's Formula in the UK - it's only fair ;)

Have you tried anything from Physician's Formula? What do you make of the packaging?

Are We All Terrified of Our Own Thoughts?

Hello Everyone,

So today's post is a little something different, today's post focuses on an issue that has been bugging me for a while now.

Switching off.

The world is becoming so small, long before I started running this blog I noticed it happening and I know I'm not alone, it didn't used to be this way, electricity alone is a blip on the long stretching timeline of mankind (yeah we're getting deep) but growing up I have noticed that the world as we knew it is gone and now this is us.

When I was a pre-teen, if someone wanted to get hold of you they had to either call the house phone or actually knock on your door - IN PERSON and this wasn't just because I was a kid, it was the same for reaching relatives and the adults around too, I know mobile phones have been around for years but they didn't really take off mainstream as in one to every household until I was just hitting my teens. Even when we (my friends and family) all owned our first mobile phone bricks we still couldn't be on them all day because we ran out of credit, instead I would sit and have quiet time to read, to think and to just process.

BOOM 2015 and I work online now and all of our worlds have closed in, for example, if someone wants to get hold of me they can call me on my home phone, then call my mobile, then they can text (if we both have an iPhone they can see when the text was delivered and read) then they can email me, Facebook me (again seeing exactly when I was last active online and when I saw their message) but don't worry because if that doesn't get my attention there's twitter, whatsapp (again with the delivered and read function) snapchat and a whole host of other apps... Meanwhile I spend more and more time bouncing from network to network, emailing, texting, calling, checking likes, blog views and stats, remembering to update that status and then I must remember to schedule those tweets and oh wait that's my phone ringing, 6 missed calls, 19 whatsapp messages, 24 emails, 11 twitter notifications, 3 text messages, 2 Facebook notifications and a Facebook DM - hell, I only drove to the shop I was missing 20 mins!
Then one day it stopped, my phone ran out of battery and I didn't have a charger, after the initial 5 min long panic that I wouldn't be home for two hours to the safety of a charger I just sat, and then after a minute or two I began to think, then I remembered, this is what I used to do! Daydream and wonder, making sense of all the things that have happened that day, that week, that year, I realised it had been a long time since I'd been alone with just me and the re-connection was strange because every couple of seconds at first I'd want to pick up my phone, automatically checking it even though it was dead and this lead me to wonder, are we all becoming scared of our own thoughts?

We seem to do everything we can to avoid being alone with our own thoughts and panic when we have to switch off, it has to be unhealthy, it has to be damaging us.

I have decided I need to think and just be more often, I'm going out and leaving the phone at home, so if you contact me don't worry, I'll get back to you - I'm just remembering my own thoughts.

Hope you enjoyed reading this, have you felt the same?

I've loved the big watch thing for ages now but I was waiting for the perfect watch to come along, then it did - Kate Spade Chronograph Watch.
Not exactly budget friendly but you can't put a price on time right? Seriously though, I've been wearing this more often than Katie Hopkins has worn controversy so I think it's safe to say I'm pretty much getting it for free when you factor in the wear time etc (go with me on this OK?)

You can see me wearing this in various Youtube videos (plug follow me PLUG!), on my Instagram (Again PLUG PLUG FOLLOW) and my latest fashion post Autumn Prepping.

Basically I hit you with everything I have there... oh wait there's more - Blog Sale and I accept offers.

So hope you enjoyed this plug filled post but hey - I need more followers.

Bye for now

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette | Swatches

Hello Everyone!

Another Day Another Palette

Today I'm giving you a look at my first It Cosmetics purchase, the Naturally Pretty (Volume 1) Palette.

This was one of the palettes I showed in my USA Beauty Haul video (Shameless plug right there)

The two main palettes I got stateside were this one and the Lorac Pro 2 Palette, due to the sheer amazingness of the Lorac palette, all other palettes just can't compare at the moment and so I feel like I may have been a bit discriminatory in my usage of this palette.

Packaging wise it is stunning, blush pink suede style packing with gold writing which you can probably guess is right up my street (due to the amount of wish list style posts I've been publishing with these colours herehere and here) and the shades are all neutral and pretty (naturally pretty if you will *chortles at my own pun*)

As you can see the layout and colouring of this palette is stunning, full on heart eye emojis right here.

All the square shades are matte colours with the rectangle 'Transforming Pearl' being the only shimmer, the idea is that the pearl shade can be used over the top of your matte shades to turn it into a shimmer shade but personally I've been using it as an inner corner highlight because I like my mattes to be matte yet I do think this is a pretty clever selling point because you essentially have two palettes, one matte, one shimmer.

But then come the swatches, the colours swatch out pretty sheer and in the case of 'All Heart' - a bit powdery.
The shades are buildable however, and a good wash of colour can be achieved with a little bit of colour building (aka more is more in this case).

The below swatches are one swipe and no primer:

I stand by my original opinion in that this is a lovely little palette, the colours are right up my street and the packaging is the shizznit (I've not seen anything so gorgeous since MAC RiRi) but as I got this at the same time as my Lorac Pro 2 (Read the review if you'd like to know where to grab it in the UK), I feel like the two palettes have taken on the personality of Hollywood Heart Throbs, It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty is to me Ryan Gosling but Lorac Pro 2 is Channing Tatum and nobody tops Tatum.

You can pick up Ryan Gosling It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty here in the UK.

Hope you enjoyed this, what are your opinions? Would you be likely to grab this?
