My Picks of MAC Wash and Dry

Hello Everyone,

Another day, another MAC collection. They're fired out so quick that they've often come and gone before you've even realized what has hit you but this time I knew, I waited, I won!

I picked up two items - not gonna lie - mainly for the packaging (love heart emoji)

MAC Wash and Dry Swatches

I only picked up two items, I went for the lipstick (standard - I always try to grab Limited Edition lipsticks) in the shade 'Steam Heat' which is a warm toned red.
I then grabbed the Blush in the colour 'Crisp Whites' which is a peach toned sheen blush - no glitter chunks just a soft sheen to the cheeks. It is really subtle and natural looking so I really love it.
STILL AVAILABLE ON HOUSE OF FRASER but be quick they're almost all gone.

Hark at the pictures:

And for the grand finale, a cringe-tastic selfie of me wearing both items.

Did you pick up any of the latest collection?

Father's Day Approaches | Gift Guide

Hello Everyone,

Today I've put together a pretty epic (if I do say so myself) gift guide for your Dads or Husbands on Father's Day - FYI it is on 21st June in the UK this year.

Father's Day Gift Guide

So I'm sure you're all familiar with gift guides so I will cut the rambles and just crack on.

For The Well Groomed Dad:

Father's Day Gift Guide

1. Jo Malone Cologne Duo Gift Set - Let us be frank, Jo Malone is amazing, for the dad that loves grooming, this would be perfect.
2. Penhaligons Nickel Shaving Set - A timeless shaving set made in the UK for all skin types.
3. Magnitone Luicid - An amazing cleansing brush I've been trying out lately and it has made my skin really soft and bright, the marketing seems to be at women but plenty of men cleanse too, there's different colours so you don't have to get pink!
I have a 20% off discount code (Rosy20) and no - I'm not affiliated with them.
Read my Magnitone Review here.
4. Clinique Gift Set - Can't really go wrong with a skincare giftset, and its black - very manly!
5. Howick Tailored Circle Cufflinks - These are really detailed and look way more expensive than they actually are, if you have a Dad in your life who wears suits, these may be worth a look.
6. Vivienne Westwood Wallet - Be quick, there's not many of these left in stock.

For The Playful Dad:

The Website 'I Want One Of Those' (IWOOT) is excellent for all sorts of gadgets and fun gifts for the young at heart dads out there.

Father's Day Gift Guide

I was kindly sent a couple of their gifts to have a look at, I can't find the Egg Cup or the No Sew Buttons online but the other items are a Wallet Ninja and Star Wars Fighter 3D Model Kit.

Some of my other top picks are:

Father's Day Gift Guide

1. Key Kong - I had a proper giggle at this, I do love a play on words.
2. Funny Side Up Egg Mould - I love this, will work well with kids too FYI.
3. 3D Ice Shark - I'm not going to lie, I want this too, I'm not sure why or how it would be used but damn it I want to make an ice shark!
4. Say Cheese Novelty Cheeseboard - Again a play on words, hilarious at all ages.
5. Assault and Pepper Shakers - May be inappropriate for some guests but perfectly acceptable to me.
6. Smartphone Projector - I've never seen these before, this looks amazing and hours of fun for the playful Dad.

(P.S. IWOOT also have a voucher code page)

The Sentimental Dad:

Father's Day Gift Guide

For the Dads who love personalised gifts GoneDigging is an amazing personalised gift website I love. Some of my top picks are:

1. Engraved Hammer - A DIY Dad should love to have a hammer with a personal message and really the jokes could be endless here if you're not one for mushy messages.
2. Personalised Travel Map - If your Dad likes to travel this should suit him nicely.
3. Personalised Leather Bracelet - Masculine and a lovely keepsake.
4.Personalised Classics - Change the names of lead characters in Classic books, this would be an amazing gift for a reader.
5. Personalised Dad Book - This will be especially cute if you're buying this gift for a little one to give to their Dad.
6.Personalised Mug - And then there's always the standard mug.

Hope you enjoyed this guide and hopefully you picked up a few gift ideas?

Clinique Aromatics in White Colour Collection Swatches

Hello Everyone!

Today we are looking at a gorgeous 6 pan palette from Clinique called All About Shadow 6-Pan Palette - Aromatics in White Colour Collection which is quite the mouthful.

I haven't ventured into the world of Clinique for quite a long time, I did once buy their tinted moisturiser, hated it and then avoided the brand forever more - until now.

All About Shadow 6-Pan Palette - Aromatics in White Colour Collection

All About Shadow 6-Pan Palette - Aromatics in White Colour Collection

I saw this 6 pan palette at a Clinique counter as I was casually strolling by one day and I just couldn't resist a swatch (I'm a palette addict, I just need ALL THE PALETTES!!!!)
Long story short, it jumped into my bag.

The colours are so vibrant with just one swipe, they wear really really well and last all day without fading or folding into your crease (I do use a primer with all shadows so keep that in mind). I love this 6 pan palette and I've been wearing it all the time which has had me some nice compliments.

As for packaging, although the mirrored case of Clinique Aromatics in White Colour Collection is stunning and looks so pretty sitting on my dressers, the practicality of a mirrored case isn't the best - fingerprints everywhere! It also means that throwing this palette into your bag to go might not actually be the best idea because the likelihood is that it will get scratched but if you're going to just use it at home then this 6 pan palette is definitely worth a buy and I can't believe I've not come across anyone mentioning this.
Namewise, the name doesn't really go with the product... All About Shadow 6-Pan Palette - Aromatics in White Colour Collection is a bit of a long winded and strange name as neither the packaging or the colours are particularly white based but who knows, I'm probably missing some massive point here.

I am so sorry I avoided Clinique all these years and I'm starting to think I might have to try more of their range, especially after a certain lipstick release I could mention...

What do you think? Is there anything from Clinique you think I should look into trying?

High Summer - Packing for a Holiday

Hello Everyone,

Today we are talking about holidays, lovely lovely holidays, and in particular, packing for said holiday.

I don't know about you but for me packing is the bane of my life, I put it off till the last minute then end up grabbing things from everywhere, shoving it in my bag and hoping for the best only to arrive and discover I brought no clean underwear but I did bring some turkey (true story).

I finally came to the realization that enough was enough and it was time to get my stuff together (literally) and so I'm sharing my fail safe checklist with you.

  • Write a check list, then write it again. Go day by day, what will you wear? Will you need makeup? Which shoes are coming?
  • Streamline your list, you're going away for a week, you don't need nine pairs of shoes and twenty-four tops.
  • Be realistic - if you're off to see the pyramids you probably don't need your wellies do you?
  • Check things off as you put then in your case NEVER BEFORE, let me tell you a story about a girl who thought she would remember her toothbrush because she would be using it before she left the house for the airport only to arrive on holiday and discover it is still in the sink? Four years in a row...
  • Leave room for souvenirs, put back that extra chunky knit, more room for local goodies, in other words - pack light!
This year I've gone for a different style of swimsuit, forget bikinis, this year I'm all over the playsuit style. It hides a multitude of sins and the cute 1950's vibe never goes out of style, I find vintage style swimwear so classy and statement without being uncomfortable to wear, in fact - this might be the most comfortable swimwear I've ever owned.

High Summer - Packing for a Holiday

High Summer - Packing for a Holiday

You can get this retro swimsuit from BonMarche which I know is usually aimed at a more mature market but seriously give it a go, their holiday swimwear is on point this year.
Bonmarche also have an amazing competition to win your dream holiday, worth £3,000. I've entered, my dream holiday would be somewhere hot - probably a beach holiday with cocktails (a Mojito mainly but I might stretch to an Apple Martini or two) and a pool, basically relaxation would be the name of the game for me.
I'd also like Channing Tatum to serve me grapes... Too far?

High Summer - Packing for a Holiday

I'm also taking with me this gorgeous straw hat which is a bargain at £7, and if you've been reading my recent posts, you'll know I'm all about the hat this summer. I really like the scarf detailing on this hat because not only does it match my swimsuit, it has the classic vintage vibe I'm going for.

High Summer - Packing for a Holiday

An easy wear beach bag is a must-have, something that can take you from sight seeing in an exotic faraway city straight to the beach for an afternoon of sunning it up (with plenty sun lotion of course!)

Where would you go on a dream holiday?
Have you got any packing tips to add?

Non Fiction Recent Reads

Hi Everyone,

Today I'm doing a collective book review of some of my recent non fiction reads.

As you may have seen if you have read my previous book reviews (here, here and here) you will see I enjoy a wide range of genres but these three grouped together nicely.

Bought and Sold - Megan Stephens

Megan Stephens tells her harrowing story of how she was trafficked within the sex industry by a man she loved when she was still just a young teenager.
This is not a book for the feint hearted, it is raw, descriptive and fully emotive of the horror of the situation.
The story really leaves you a bit more savvy into the dark and twisted world of human trafficking and may open your eyes to a world you couldn't have dreamt up even in your most twisted nightmares, the ease at which these people infiltrate lives, separate you from your friends, family and even yourself is hard to believe.
If you're looking for an educational - albeit difficult read, this is a book for you.

On holiday from the UK when she was just 14, Megan meets a charming man in a bar, seeming to offer her the love affection she is missing in her home life back in the UK, she quickly falls for his charms, little does she know it is all an act and he isn't all he seems, this seemingly chance meeting is a catalyst that sparks a chain of events culminating in her six year captivity and abuse in one of the worst possible ways.

I'm glad I read this book, I feel I really leaned a lot about the world within these pages.

The Real Lady Detective Agency - Rebecca Jane

Having turned accidental detective in her own failing relationship, Rebecca discovers she has a hidden talent for sniffing out deception, couple this with the unhelpful and intimidating private detective agencies she came across during her own pursuit to catch her cheating ex, Rebecca decides to start up 'The Lady Detective Agency'.

This book reads like a kiss and tell with gossip about the lives of some of her clients, the love rats and swindlers that she catches, the pets she gets asked to look for and the outcomes that are stranger than fiction.
This is a very easy read, perfect for summer reads.

If you do enjoy a bit of a gossip now and then and aren't looking for anything you need to concentrate on then 'The Real Lady Detective Agency' will be right up your alley.

I enjoyed this book but I did find Rebecca Jane quite brash at times, I definitely wasn't wanting to rush out and befriend the woman but she does make for an entertaining read.

The South Shields Poltergeist - Michael J Hallowell and Darren W Ritson

Not usually one to read ghost books, I was pulled into reading this as it is set not too far from the town I grew up in and so it was there, in my reading list.

First up I have to say that this book is horrifying and infuriating in equal measure, horrifying due to the apparent poltergeist activity that is discussed in this book, its like a printed version of the paranormal activity films, enough to freak me out enough that I found going to bed in the dark a bit scary after reading a chapter or two but leading on to the infuriating part - this book has more waffle than a Belgian waffle shop! I seriously don't know why some of the details in this book made it into print, think I'm being harsh? Well I don't want to read about the variations of full English breakfast the two authors eat in a book apparently about a poltergeist, and this sort of boring tangent happens time and time again through each chapter...

If you can deal with ghosts and also about who likes beans on their breakfast and who doesn't, then pick this up for a scary read.

Have you read any of these books?
Do you have any similar genre recommendations?

Magnitone Lucid First Impressions | Review | Discount Code

Hello Everyone,

Today I'm sharing my first impressions Of the Magnitone Lucid Cleansing Brush, I have been testing this brush out in the past week - which doesn't sound long enough to be writing a review but Magnitone have a 7 day promise whereby they say you will have softer, brighter, clearer skin within 7 days of using their Cleansing Brush and so this is a mini review, a 'miview' if you will.

Magnitone Lucid First Impressions | Review | Discount Code

I have suffered recently with a horrible breakout, I normally have pretty smooth skin but after this breakout I'm really struggling to get my skin back to normal, this is why I was excited to try the Magnitone Lucid out for myself, anything to try and save my ruined face (another post will be coming soon about the cause of this breakout).

I was a bit worried that this brush would hurt or feel uncomfortable on my face, I pictured a large electric toothbrush that would flay me within an inch of my life and having heard some horror stories about a similar cleansing brush (by another brand I'm sure you've heard of) I was expecting a bit of discomfort but I needn't have worried, Magnitone have a setting for sensitive skin and recommend you don't use your brush for over a minute at a time for the first 5 days of use - also the Magnitone Lucid beeps at 20 second intervals to let you know where you're standing on the old time front - handy.
It is also fully waterproof too so you can use your Magnitone in the bath or shower, not just at the sink (but don't actually fully submerge it in water, it's a cleansing brush not a submarine).

Magnitone Lucid First Impressions | Review | Discount Code

Magnitone Lucid First Impressions | Review | Discount Code

So how does it feel?
Like nothing really, a bit of a vibration but that's all, I don't scrub my face with this (that would be madness), I just gently move the head around my face using my normal cleanser (Liz Earle if you're interested)
Afterwards my face feels clean but not sore or sensitive and none of that horrible tight feeling that tells you that you've gone Kanye West (as in gone waaaaay too far) so I'm quite happy to keep using the Magnitone Lucid to see what happens next.

So Far I've noticed my skin does look a bit brighter and does feel softer but I've noticed no difference to my breakout yet, however I will update you all with another review when I have had longer to use the Magnitone Lucid Cleansing Brush - hopefully I will have the face of an angel by then.

Discount Code

Discount code, discount code DISCOUNT CODE!!! Have I told you all that Magnitone gave me a Discount Code to share with you all? No? I'm subtle that's why...

Jokes aside, if you want an impressive 20% off your own Magnitone Lucid enter the discount code 'Rosy20' I'm not sure how long this code will last so get in with the speed of a thousand gazelles.

You can choose different colours too, of course mine had to be pink but there's yellow, blue and green too.

Speak to you all soon

Fenwick has one of the best beauty halls outside of London in my opinion, with high end counters that are usually hard to find outside of the capital such as Tom Ford and Giorgio Armani along with favourites such as Benefit, Bare Minerals and MAC which makes it the perfect location for a Beauty Week to take place.

Beauty Week:

During Beauty Week you'll be able to enjoy events such as:
  • Daily live beauty demonstrations

  • Beauty Houses including Tom Ford, Clarins, Dior, Kiehl's, Sisley and Lancôme will be hosting makeup and skincare masterclasses on their counters.

Fenwick Beauty Week | Beauty Blogger Event

We arrived in Fenwick's Trivoli Restaurant at 5:30pm for some drinks and nibbles and a talk from Fenwick's Beauty Buyer, Lucy Watson (who, by the way is seriously lovely).

I picked up a card from Laura Mercier to sample their gorgeous Silk Crème foundation (which looked and felt amazing on my face) and the lady at the counter was so friendly and approachable too.

I also opted for a massage and fragrance chat from Jo Malone where I was lucky enough to smell and wear their Blue Skies and Blossoms collection, I chose to wear the Plum Blossom Cologne which you need to smell, it is Limited Edition and such a gorgeous scent I need it in my collection.

Fenwick Beauty Week | Beauty Blogger Event

Then we all mingled more and discussed our various treatments.

If anyone knows how to do a blogger event, it's Fenwick, I had a lovely evening and now I have a wish list of products to buy that might cost me my mortgage!
