Powder Scarves | Pink Ribbon Foundation

Hello Everyone!

Today we are talking about the most beautiful scarf I've laid eyes on in a long time...

The Pink Ribbon Foundation Charity Scarf from Powder.

If you read this blog often you will know I am a huge fan of Powder Scarves because not only are they gorgeous, they're also fantastic quality and with many unique designs to choose from, it's no wonder I spend a large amount of time on their website browsing and lusting.

Powder's spring collection is every bit as beautiful as I hoped it would be and features the Pink Ribbon scarf I am showing you today.

Designed by the award winning designer Lisa Beaumont, this scarf is made from 100% silk in a classic duck egg and pale pink design, this scarf exudes class (and who doesn't want to get their Kate Middleton on now and then) but the best bit is that all proceeds go to the Pink Ribbon Foundation to support the fight against UK breast cancer so not only will this scarf make you look good, you can also feel good too knowing that you're helping a charity that supports so many people affected by cancer.

So while you're browsing the Powder website let me show you four more of my favourites from the spring collection.

1. Capri - Mint coloured and bouncy, so pretty.
2. Lucy - Available in four colours but I especially like the darker pink, so cheerful.
3. Marble Print - Stunning colour pop scarf, I think this scarf would look gorgeous on a spring beach walk.
4. Tropical Flower Print - Summer in a scarf print right here, the colour use is gorgeous!

What scarves do you lust after from Powder?
Let me know if you buy the Pink Ribbon scarf I'd love to see your scarf selfies :)

Please Note: Although I did receive this scarf for review purposes I did make a donation to the charity too :)

Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham Book Review

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm reviewing a book I've recently read by Lena Dunham (the creator of the tv show Girls) called Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's Learned .

If you've been a fan of the tv series 'Girls' you will love this book, it is basically like reading the inner monologue of the lead character, except this time it is the biography of Lena Dunham.
Filled with the same shocking dark humour (incest jokes push it a little too far for me) and candidly honest to the point of brutal views and personal anecdotes, this book brings everything you loved or hated from the tv show and then gives you more.

It is unlike any other book I've read before and was a little uncomfortable in places - a bit like lunch with a friend who thrives on TMI, however I found this made the book compelling too, I just had to know more.
There are laugh out loud bits and bits that most of us can relate to (such as convincing yourself you have a deadly disease thanks to internet searches). There are parts that will make you want to cry (including a story about rape) but most of all you will feel like you're listening to a friend have a rant or 10 (albeit a slightly crazed neurotic friend that seems tortured by their own sense of being).

Overall it is definitely worth a read and I guarantee you won't have read anything else like this, if it doesn't seem like your genre of choice I still urge you to give it a chance, you might enjoy it.

Have you read this book? What were your opinions?

Benefit Boi-ing Dupe

Hello Everyone,

Today I have a little dupe post for you as I know how much you like them.

Today's dupe is to replace your Benefit Boi-ing concealer, the product is Phwoarr Paint by 17.

Both these concealers claim to be heavy duty, basically these are the type you turn to when you have some hardcore dark circles you need rid of.
I have been using Boi-ing for years, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it, it does what it says in the tin (gets my circles hidden away) but it can feel a bit heavy and cakey - I tend to wear my glasses when I use this so you can't really see the heaviness that it leaves. Still it gets the job done and it has been a re-purchased item in my stash, however, at £17.50 this is a pricey item and the sting is all the more painful when it isn't a product I truly love and thus I've been on the hint for a dupe for quite a while.

Enter Phwoarr Paint.

At £5.49 it's over £10 cheaper and it feels to me that it is basically the same product. The only real difference I can feel is that Phwoarr Paint is slightly creamier in formulation but that's basically it.
Also, I prefer the packaging of Phwoarr Paint because it has a handy little mirror in the lid whereas Boi-ing is a screw top, see through lid.

Overall I think we are on to a winner here.

Have you got any recommendations for heavy duty concealers I might love? I'm always on the look out for the next best.

Zuzka Botanticals Rose Petal Cleansing Milk First Impressions

Hi Everyone,

Today we have a little first impressions review of some skincare I've been trying from Zuzka Natural Beauty.

Zuzka was created by Susan Kohutova who, having suffered sensitive allergy prone skin, was on a mission to create a range of natural cosmetics without the harsh chemicals that irritate many of our skins.
Zuzka use only high quality organic ingredients in their products and avoid animal ingredients, parabens, synthetic ingredients or artificial fragrance.
I'm pretty into natural beauty at the moment (I've made a few things myself at home in the past) so I was intrigued to try something from their range.

I was sent the Rose Petal Cleansing Milk to try out and I've been using it since it arrived.
Made with an infusion of rose petals and rose essential oils this smells beautiful. I love the smell of roses and this cleanser literally smells like a handful of petals which I loved, the pump dispenses the perfect amount of product into your hand and it feels nice to use on your skin, it leaves your skin feeling healthy and there's none of that 'stripped' feeling that you can get with some cleansers which was a nice change.
One thing I did notice is that this cleansing milk had me feeling a little oily after a few days use but I'm pretty sure that is down to the fact this  product is designed for mature skin and being in my 20s that isn't quite me... Yet.
That point aside I would be interested in trying some of the skincare they have aimed at my age group as I imagine it would be very nice indeed.
Another note to mention is that Zuzka isn't just skincare, they also sell (my personal favourite) Makeup! Including foundations, finishing powders, correctors, blushers and bronzers, lipsticks and lipglosses and finally, Brushes - I've personally got my eye on their flat top kabuki brush :)

So what do you think? Have you had a look at the website?
Where do you stand on natural beauty?

Beauty and the Sleep

Hi Everyone!

Today we are talking about te wonders of sleep, I'm sure you all know by now the importance of getting your 8 hours shut-eye every night but did you also know that having clean bedding and placing your bed on the opposite side of the room to your door can help you get a better, deeper nights sleep?

The lovely people at House of Fraser have sent me over this poster to share with you all for some very helpful hints about getting a good nights sleep. I'm personally all about a lavish bed, I like clean sheets, loads of cushions and pillows, a duvet, quilt and throw all tucked in beautifully.

Hope you all enjoyed this post I certainly enjoyed reading more about one of my favourite places, my bed!

Low Key Valentine's - Aka Top 10 Valentine's Day Movies

Hello Everyone!

Today we are discussing Valentine's Day, love it or hate it, it's upon us.

Many of you will be going out on candlelit dates, cinema visits etc, however some of us either don't really bother with Valentine's Day on a large scale.
So for those of us that fancy a nod to the romantic, from the comfort of your own sofa, here are my top 10 Valentine's movies

10.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past - A favourite of mine, think of 'A Christmas Carol' but for the modern day dating world, rather than being a penny scrimping miser, the lead character is serial dating heartbreaker who is visited by the ghost of his uncle (in a funny way not a terrifying way) to show him the error of his ways.

9.

Knocked Up - Not the traditional Rom Com scenario, one night stand with two people terribly suited (one works for E! the other gets high a lot and is unemployed) ends in an unexpected pregnancy. Hilarious but also very feel good.

8.

Love Actually -  Technically this is a Christmas film but I love it at Valentine's Day. All the stories intertwine and it is such a clever film with loads of feel good outcomes. Some of the best british talent are in the casting for this film and it is just one of the best films ever.

7.
An Officer and a Gentleman -  An oldie but a goodie, I'm sure everyone has seen some sort of parody or re-enactment of the end of this film (if you haven't I won't spoil it) but it's definitely worth a watch for a more 'grown up' rom com.

6.

Ghost - If you've not seen this film ask yourself why?! It is simply a must see, there will be tears, there will be slight cringes at some of the questionable 90s dialogue but there will be fun had by all.

5.

The Vow - One of the beat parts of this film is that it's based on a true story. A loved up couple are in a car accident and when the woman wakes up she has no memory of her life after she got with her husband. She can only remember her life at home with her parents and her ex... Awkward.

4.

17 Again - Ever wondered what would happen if you could go back and do it all again? Would you make the same mistakes? Are they even mistakes at all?
This is a surreal film about a middle aged man who married his pregnant high school sweetheart but years later is feeling like he threw his life away. He gets the chance to be 17 again and do it over, but will he choose the same life again?

3.

Friends With Benefits - An unlikely subject for a romantic movie but roll with it, Mila Kunis is one of my favourite actresses and she is (as usual) on fine form in this movie. This movie is basically about what happens if you try to be 'Friends With Benefits' but start to get feelings.

2.

The Lucky One - If ever there was a movie that makes you fall in love with the lead character, this is it. A soldier returns from war in Iraq with a picture of a woman he has never met who saved his life without her knowing.
Cue a journey to find said woman, mix in some cute 'one man and his dog' and a grown up Zac Efron and you're on to a winner.

1.

The Notebook - The most romantic film I've ever seen, it has it all (including Ryan Gosling). I'm not a movie crier, this movie along with one other (Marley and Me)  had me crying like a baby.
Brief synopsis, boy meets girl, girl is from rich family who don't approve of her new love with little prospects.
Girl goes to school, boy goes to War, girl gets engaged to someone else then they meet by chance.
You need to see it  if you haven't already.

Well that's it from me, hope you enjoyed this post and found a movie or two to see.
Are any of these firm favourites with you?
