OOTD - Long Sunny Days

Hello Everyone!

Today's OOTD is what I wore over the weekend whilst enjoying the sunshine!

It was my first foray into Harem pants and I have to say, I don't know why I have held off so long, these blew my usual skinny jeans out of the water in terms of comfort and ease to wear, now I know 'fashion' and 'comfort' aren't really supposed to be coupled together, but sometimes you need a comfy day!
The weather was beautiful and meant that I didn't need a cardigan outside which means one thing - SUMMER IS HERE!!!! - cue rain and thunder now that I'm excited for some sunshine.

I wore a longline turquoise detail necklace to jazz up the look, but other than that this was a pretty low maintenance outfit, I didn't even wear any makeup as it was all a bit warm so this outfit literally took 5 mins to throw together.

What I Wore:
Shirt: Primark
Trousers: Next
Necklace: Majique Jewellery*
Shoes: Primark

Hope you enjoyed the post.

OOTD - Hottest Day of the Year

Hello Everyone!

Today was supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far and so I thought I would celebrate by wearing a nice little summer dress.

I love how pretty and feminine this dress is but it also reminds me of the 90s - hardly surprising as the 90s trend is popping up all over at the moment. As someone who can remember the actual 90s I am not rushing to re-create the looks, this dress is about as 90s as I will venture.

In light of the fact that I didn't want to play up to the 90s trend in its entirety, I decided to forgo a choker necklace and jelly shoes in favour of a more 2014 long-line floral necklace (clashing florals speak to me) and my trusty old nude heels.

I went for a bold statement lip with MAC's 'Pleasure Bomb' lipstick (LE)  and quite understated eye makeup (MAC Ricepaper all over the lid and my YSL mascara to finish).
I used ELF Bronze/Blush duo to lightly contour and then my Dani Glasses from Specspost.

Finally I finished off the look with a bright pink satchel bag.

It really was a lovely day, I hope they're right when they're saying we are going to have a heat wave this year... However, I'm sure they say this is going to happen every year and every year we get let down, but who knows, maybe this is our year!

What I Wore:
Dress: ASOS
Shoes: Primark
Necklace: Majique Jewellery*
Bag: ASOS
Glasses: SpecsPost

My All Time Reds

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is about my favourite reds (and reddy pinks as with the blush!)

Red has long been a favourite colour of mine, I like how a splash of such a daring colour can make you seem really confident (even if it is a fib!).
At this time of year, reds tend to take a back seat, everything goes pastel and coral - which I love too by the way, but I still can't quite overlook one of my go-to colours in favour of seasonal trends.
Red is a classic, it doesn't go out of fashion!

My top picks are the items in the picture above, they are:
Sleek - Blush by Three in the shade Sweet Cheeks.
MAC - Viva Glam 1
L'oreal - Color Riche Lipstick in shade 461 Scarlett Creme.
Urban Decay - Super Saturated Lip Gloss in the shade '
Theodora'
Red Bracelets from Majique Jewellery*
Sugarpill - Eyeshadow in the shade Love+
Ciaté - Nail Polish in the shade Dangerous Affair

What are your takes on red? Do you love it all year round like I do?

Nails of the Day - Leighton Denny - Review

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is a little look at what I'm wearing on my nails today.

I saw this polish in TK Maxx and as it was a fraction of the RRP, I snapped it up.

I have wanted to try a Leighton Denny nail polish for a while but couldn't justify the expense, I got this polish in a duo got just £7 so that was a bargain!

The shade is called Butterfly Wings. Described on the Leighton Denny website as being a perfect colour on its own or as part of a French manicure and perfect for brides, I was expecting a classy, barely there shade, something you could wear to work, a wedding or day to day.

It certainly is a beautiful colour, a barely there pink with a gorgeous irradescent micro-shimmer running through. At first glance it is almost undetectable but as it catches the light it gives your nails such a pretty, feminine glow.
The downside came for me at just how sheer one coat is, these pictures are the result of 3 coats, I don't like to have to go over 3 coats when applying nail varnish, it just takes too long for my liking and they tend to get a bit goopy after a few coats so if you are looking for an opaque finish - this is not the polish for you!

At £11 a bottle (RRP) I would have liked a less sheer formula but as I picked this shade and another for £7, I am still pleased I picked it up.

I accessorised with a pretty heart ring from Majique Jewellery* in a silver colour as the overall colour tone of the nail polish is cool so I thought silver would be a better option than gold.

What do you think of Leighton Denny nail polishes? Are they all sheer or is this a one off?

Lady With Pale Legs - OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today's OOTD involves dressing like a lady and some seriously pale legs that I hadn't noticed till editing these pics and by then it was too late.
So now I've pointed out the elephant in the room (or should I say milk bottle) lets move on shall we :)

I love a bit of ladylike fashion now and then, I particularly love a nice midi skirt, I just always feel more classy in a full skirt, channelling my inner Kate Middleton.
I opted for a classic English style tweed skirt and styled that over a white lace bodycon dress and popped on my trusty nude heels.

With this look I didn't want to add too many accessories as I wanted to overall outfit to have a classic feel. I decided to go for a simple silver look bracelet with a little heart on it as a subtle detail.

I wore my oversized glasses from specspost and went with minimal makeup, just a swipe of Revlon lipgloss.
My hair was still curly from the night before (See that OOTD here) so I swept it into a side pony to keep it back but still see the curls.

My handbag is monochrome with quilting detailing to compliment the overall look.

What I Wore:
Lace dress: H&M
Skirt: ASOS
Shoes: Primark
Glasses: Specspost
Bracelet: Majique Jewellery*
Handbag: Prinark

Hope you enjoyed the look today.

Birthday Night Out - OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today I'm showing you a little OOTD from my friend's birthday night out.

I picked a simple outfit that was quick and easy to put together for an evening of good food and non alcoholic cocktails all before returning home to pop our babies to bed and snuggle with a cuppa and a good book.
I love catching up with old friends as being mummies now it's easy for weeks and months to slip by without even realising!

I kept my makeup very simple, I used a Revlon colour balm for a pink tint to my lips and my elf concealer. I finished off the look with a spot of my YSL mascara and that was that. I loosely curled my hair before brushing it out to get a more wavy curl than the tight spiral curls I had immediately after styling.

For accessories I picked a turquoise, long-line necklace to add a bit of a bright clash to my hot pink dress. I like how the gold compliments the warm tone of the dress but the pendant stands out as a statement piece.
As many of you will know by now, I love colour clashing and brightness!

What I Wore:
Dress: George at Asda
Necklace: Majique Jewellery*
Shoes: Primark

What do you wear for an evening out? Do you enjoy getting home as much as going out too?

The Owl and the Pussycat - OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today's OOTD is a cosy one, I woke up to darkness, I thought it was still night, no, it was just pouring down and freezing so I decided the only way to get through was with a big comfy jumper.

I went for this oversized cat jumper I picked up from TK Maxx, it's super comfy and super warm.

I accessorised with an oversized statement necklace, keeping the animal theme going I picked an owl necklace. I love owls and I have noticed they seem to be popping up all over lately so naturally I have been adding to my collection quite a bit,

Makeup will be minimum today, just some tarte mineral foundation and my new favourite Revlon lipstick that I mentioned here.

What I wore:

Jumper: TK Maxx
Leggings: Topshop
Necklace:Majique Jewellery*
Shoes: Primark

Hope you liked this OOTD!

#Flashmob Cosmetics Review

Hello Everyone!

Today I'm showing you some pieces from a relatively new brand called #flashmob.

I was lucky enough to be sent a few items from the line to try out and it has been fun playing with them!
#Flashmob are all about electric colour and glitter, I love a bit of colour play myself, there's not many things as fun to me as an afternoon - or severa - playing dress up.
I was sent a nail kit, some lipglosses, some electric colours glitter eyeliners and some hair chalks.

First up I played with the nail kit, the basics behind it is that you paint your nails with a base colour (the kit provides black but you could use your own colours) and then you pick from one of the pots of assorted glitters to add to your nails, the glitters are really pretty, multi toned and different shapes and sizes.
There is then a top coat to seal it all into place.
You can see a nail look I created by clicking here.

Next up I tried the lipglosses, these were not as pigmented as I'd have liked, the only one them that shows up is the orange and that is a very subtle orange glow that you don't notice on the lips but you can see it on an arm swatch.
The colours do specify that they are sheer but they do just seem to come out like a clear glitter gloss.
I used the orange further down in an overall look but I layered it over a bright lipstick. #flashmob make lipsticks in daring colours and I would certainly love to give them a try in future to see if they have better pigmentation and pack the punch I was hoping for from these.

The colours were (from top to bottom) orange, pink, purple and blue.

Now these eyeliners were fun, they are bright and well pigmented, they are definitely good for creating more 'out-there' or raver style looks.

I used the purple one in the overall look I created below, I did try the pink too but it didn't photograph well against my skintone so I went for the purple as you can definitely see it.
They are easy to apply and the brush handle is easy to grip with a nice thin tip so you can easily create a nice wing effect if you like but you would also be able to layer these up in a colourful spin on the tuxedo eyeliner trend we saw last year.

Saving the best for last - up now is the hair chalk. These have crazy pigmentation! I started off playing with the pink chalk, the basic idea is that you open the compact, put a section of hair in, close the lid and drag it down the hair... Not going to lie - that hurt a little, so I opted for taking the sponge out and just running the sponge through my hair.
The pink colour left me with a quirky bit of pinkness running through my hair which I loved.

However, after seeing how nice the pink looked I decided to go wild and put loads of the orange colour in my hair and the result was amazing!
You can see me below in all my orange glory, I am also wearing the purple eyeliner and the orange gloss - although the gloss is over Mangrove Lipstick by MAC as it is a bright colour that I thought would go with this look.
* warning: the hair chalk is messy! I got  it everywhere and whilst washing it out my face went red but it was still fun and nothing a bit of bioderma couldn't fix*

How do you like the electric look?

Colour Pop OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today's OOTD post is a little colour pop - again! I do love wearing brights.
One colour combo I really love is navy blue with mustard yellow, it's a classic 'go-to' for me, probably in the same way a lot of people reach for monochrome!

I liked how the dress featured bright flowers that went well with the yellow cardigan and pulled the outfit together in my opinion. The whole outfit felt very ready for some summer sunshine but being Scotland, it was also covered up enough to keep me warm.

For jewellery I went with a gold theme to go with the mustard yellow, I love how gold and mustard go together so I picked a simple wishbone necklace and finished the look with a quirky owl bangle which had a further pop of colour.

For makeup I was wearing my new picks from the MAC Proenza Schouler Collection that you can read about by clicking the link.

What I Wore:

Cardigan: H&M
Dress: Primark
Leggings: Topshop
Shoes: Primark
Necklace: Charmed Ivy
Bangle: Majique Jewellery*

Hope you enjoyed this OOTD post - what are your 'go-to' colours?

MAC Proenza Schouler - My Picks

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm showing you the items I have picked up from the MAC Proenza Schouler Collection - starting with the outer packaging...

I was so excited when I spotted this collection and grabbed the two bits I had been waiting for - then paid an extortionate amount for next day delivery - then missed said delivery and had to call them back.... But I won in the end and they were mine.
I picked the blush ombré in 'Ocean City' a coral blush that fades into a beige in a gorgeous ombré design.

I also picked up a lipstick in the shade 'Mangrove' - a super bright orangy-red with a matte finish.

First impressions are excellent, both products are beautifully packaged, the packaging is so different to the usual MAC packaging that you wouldn't initially recognise them as MAC by looking at them.
One downside however, is that the mirror packaging scratches so easily, I've already damaged both boxes.
That issue aside though and it is stunning to look at.

I wore both items yesterday to try them out for a first impressions and they are lovely, the blush isn't too pigmented so it is easy to build it up to just the right intensity, the lipstick didn't drag or pull at the lips and didn't appear to dry my lips out at all, for a matte lipstick, that is quite impressive to me.

Will you be grabbing anything from this collection?
