Nails of the Day - Summer Nights

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is a little NOTD post I thought I would share with you.

Black nails isn't a look I rock often anymore (now I'm over my teenage gothic stage) but combined with the glitter on these nails I think it steers it away from gothic and into something I'm more familiar with these days - sparkles!

I thought I needed a big statement ring to compliment the sparkle action on my fingers so I picked this gorgeous rainbow stone ring from Majique Jewellery* which I think complimented the whole bling look.
I did this before an evening meal out to add a little glam to my outfit.

I used nail polish and glitter from Flashmob Cosmetics*, a more detailed review will be coming soon so keep an eye out for that but suffice to say, I really like the overall look.

I used the black base coat and then sprinkled an orange toned glitter over the top, as it dried it looked more greeny coloured which was strange but very pretty, I then used a topcoat to seal it all in, the below pic is before I cleaned up the excess glitter - be warned, it gets everywhere!

What do you think of this overall look? Would you wear it?

Pick of the Brights

Hello Everyone!

So the summer is well and truly on the way, I've just spent a good hour in the garden pulling weeds and other green fingered goodness and the sunshine was actually making me hot!
This got me thinking, what better time to do a summer brights post than now?

Here is a little collection of some of my favourite brights for the start of summer.
The bright coral fabric is my favourite summer oversized pull-over, perfect for making sure you don't get too chilly (it is England after all!) and adds a bright pop of colour.
You can see me wearing this in my OOTD here.

Next up we have this gorgeous coral blush from Paul & Joe, I was originally drawn to this because of the beautiful packaging but the blush inside is beautiful and perfect for summer, I won't go on too long about this as I have a detailed review of The Paul and Joe Powder here so have a look if you want to see more.

What is summer without accessories? I love how accessories can change the feel of an outfit and this bracelet is perfect for bringing a splash of colour to any outfit, I like to wear this with a less colourful outfit such as a black strappy top and denim shorts to make sure the eyes are drawn to the bracelet, you can see this bracelet on the Majique Jewellery* Website.

Summery nails are a must for me to get me in the mood for fun in the sun, I've gone for two pink colours as I'm loving pink and coral at the moment, one from L'oreal called 'Sassy Pink' and the 50th Anniversary of Superdrug Barry M Polish that combines both colour and glitz, what's not to love?

Last up is a recent purchase from Revlon, their new lipstick in the colour in 'Carnival Samba' a gorgeous coral orange that looks scary in the tube but applies with a sheer wash of colour that is really complimentary and makes the orange trend so much easier to wear.

There we have it, what are your must-haves for getting you in the summer mood?

Lets Go To The Tennis - Courtside Style

Hello Everyone!

Today we are talking about Courtside Style, a new one on Sparkles of Light, but with it being that time of year when the tennis season begins and my mother pretends to watch the game and not the men, I thought it would be nice to put together a couple of outfit choices that I would wear if I was going to be cheering Andy Murray on (politely and with ladylike poise of course)

So today lets pretend we are at Aegon Tennis and lets get cracking.

First up we have this nice little 'Cut Out Floral Shift Dress' from Topshop

I loved the embellishment on this dress and thought it would look very pretty with the 'Engraved Cuff Pack' bracelets from Topshop too.
For shoes I thought some flats would look nice so I went for these 'Maya Cut Out Point Shoes' (Topshop) and finished off the outfit with some Topshop sunnies called 'Angular Cateye Sunglasses'

Total Spend: £143.50

For the next outfit I went with an 'Off The Shoulder Monochrome Frill Jumpsuit' from Topshop.

I thought some gold accessories would really make this outfit perfect so I opted for some little gold sandals (Gold Flat Sandals by KG - Topshop) and a gold statement necklace (Geometric Flower Necklace - Topshop) finally finishing off with some Topshop sunglasses called 'Penny Metal Arm Sunglasses'.

Total Spend: £128.50

Finally, my third outfit is the rock-star wages one, I went browsing designer items and popped together a little (expensive) outfit.

This dress is beautiful, it is the 'Ruffled Crepe Dress' by ChloƩ and would look gorgeous as a ladylike tennis dress. I paired it with some gorgeous flats by Christian Louboutin called 'Body Strass Embellished Mesh Point-Toe Flats'. For jewellery I thought a colourful bracelet would play up to the colour on the ruffles of the ChloƩ dress so I went for this '18-karat Gold Multi-Stone Bracelet' by Pippa Small, finally I finished the outfit with Miu Miu's 'Embellished Cat-Eye Acetate Sunglasses'.

Total Spend: £5,190

Which outfit would you pick?
What would you wear to the Tennis?

Things I'm Looking Forward To This Spring/Summer

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is a little different, you'll have seen various wishlists on my blog before but this is more of a life wishlist and all the things I'm looking forward to in the next few months.

First up, the obvious one is the weather, I don't know about you but I'm seriously ready to start enjoying some sunshine, the cold weather is getting a bit overdone now - I'm currently feeling about winter the same way I do about the expression 'YOLO' please just take it away... Far away.

Next up I'm really excited for moving, having recently bought my dream house I am in the process of  moving in and getting settled and finally getting some proper internet in here! I can't wait to decorate the whole place and make it my own, shabby chic style with country accents I have so many plans.

Makeup wise I'm excited about the return of sheer makeup, winter time is the time for full makeup, but come the spring time I like to go for a more natural look, first on my list of items to revisit are my Revlon Lip Butters, moisturising and light with a touch of colour making them perfect for any occasion.

Finally, one thing I'm really looking forward to is my brother-in-law's wedding coming up soon, I love weddings and looking at the details that have gone into it, I can't wait to see my future sister in law's dress as I know a lot of planning has gone into it and there's something about a bride's dress that captivates me, this will be the dress she spends more time thinking about than any other dress ever and the anticipation is getting to me.

I will be wearing my hair in a simple yet messy updo with a simple rope braid leading into a bun, on the actual day I will take a bit longer pinning it right but I'm popping a picture here so you can get an idea of how it will look.

For accessories I am keeping it simple and chic with a long necklace featuring pearl and flower detailing (perfect wedding style) from Majique Jewellery*

If you are are into weddings too or looking to plan one soon you should check out De Vere. They have everything you need to create your dream wedding (minus the future spouse - hopefully you will already have one of those if you're planning a wedding), in particular - their December Weddings sound gorgeous and so romantic. I picture hot mulled wine, bridesmaids in deep red, holly table decorations.... I want to get married again!
My own wedding was in Autumn - my favourite season - and it was a beautiful sunny day, it was simple but it was pretty perfect to me.
Are you married? What was your wedding like and if you have any links to a post about it please leave them below I'd love to read them.

What are you looking forward to in life at the moment?

Be The Change - OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today's OOTD is a little different as it is more about the feel of the day than the actual outfit itself.

It started with a motivational quote "Be The Change", I had heard this quote floating around and I have to say - it captured my imagination. You see, it is all well and good to spend our days complaining about the things we don't like, but at the end of it all, we have to try and change things for ourselves - essentially - be the change!

So that is what my life is about, being happy and being that change, however little it might be on a day to day basis but knowing that you are making a difference to your own life is very rewarding.

I hope you enjoyed this little OOTD with a difference and I hope you didn't find this too preachy, but next time you want to complain, just stop and think, could you be the change?

What I wore:
Sunglasses: SpecsPost
Scarf: H&M
Dress: Primark
Leggings: New Look
Wellies: Hunter
Bracelet: Majique Jewellery

So, how are you being the change?

Posh Bathing - Grace Cole Boutique

Hello Everyone!

Today we are talking about a lovely collection from Grace Cole called 'Boutique'.
The word 'Boutique' for me conjures up images of luxury, anything calling itself 'Boutique' needs to be a bit special, and this range didn't let me down.

I was sent a bottle of Grapefruit, Lime and Mint Bath Soak to try, the scents are really special, with combinations such as Orchid, Amber and Incense, Wild Fig and Pink Cedar and Vanilla Blush and Peony amongst others.

The packaging is really nice, it looks luxe and wouldn't be out of place in a boutique hotel in London.

These products are designed to be relaxing, moisturising and deliver a little tranquility to your bathroom, i like the addition of honey in the ingredients as honey is a natural moisturiser and I've been on a bit of a honey kick lately!

I found this bubble bath to smell really fresh and clean, it certainly was a relaxing and enjoyable scent.
I have quite sensitive skin but I wasn't irritated by this product at all so that's a thumbs up from me.

This range doesn't stop at bubble baths, there are body creams, body butters, hand creams, hand washes and shower gels all in a tempting array of scents, I'd certainly love to try more from the range soon, particularly from the Vanilla Blush and Peony range. Have a look at the full range here.

What do you think? Would you like to pick any of these up? What scent would you pick?

Let's Go To The Park - OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today's OOTD is a little casual outfit to wear to the park.

The weather has been so hot and sunny here lately it's been almost law that I should be out in it enjoying every minute before the coldness comes back and so we took my little doggy out to the park so she could go chase all the other puppies and come back spent!

In nice weather I like to wear a pretty dress as it makes me feel so summery and feminine, it still hasn't been quite hot enough to lose the trusty old leggings but soon as the summer hits they will be coming out to play!
I like to keep accessories to a minimum, after all, Coco Chanel did say you should look in a mirror before you leave the house and remove one accessory before you go, it doesn't do to be draped in gold (Kanye - I'm talking to you here!)

I chose to wear some comfy flats for pottering around the park (and so I could run after the puppy whenever she tried to get into anyone's picnic, car, handbag, kissing session.......) and I liked the contrast of the white shoes against the black leggings.

For my main accessory I went with this colourful bracelet that matched the colours on my dress and a pair of sunglasses.

What I Wore:
Sunglasses: SpecsPost
Dress: New Look
Leggings: Topshop
Shoes: Primark
Cardigan: H&M
Bracelet: Majique Jewellery*

How do you spend your lazy warm days?

It's Alright to be Bright - OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today I went off to visit a castle (as you do) and I decided that although I wanted to be comfy and casual, I also wanted to be bright and cheerful for hunting among the ruins.

With pink being this year's colour I decided this was the perfect time to whip out my brightest pink top to go along with my pink converse shooooz I love.

I added a bright, chunky necklace to further rev up the colour. Chunky necklaces aren't usually my thing, I normally choose a classic style of necklace but something about the unique look of this necklace called to me...

As the day got cooler I layered up with my favourite army style jacket from Michael Kors.

What I wore:
Top: Primark
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes: Schuh
Jacket: Michael Kors
Necklace: Majique Jewellery*

My Girl's Night Out Must-Haves

Hello Everyone!

Today I'm talking about my essentials for a good night out.

It's not very often I get my glad rags on these days - you're more likely to find me reading blogs in front of a fire sipping on a camomile tea, however, when the occasion does pop up, the first thing you will find me obsessing over is the outfit.

Personally for me, I feel a bit too old to pull on a short skirt and heels of my teenage days, so now I opt for dressy but still covered up.

I went for an oversized silky vest in a light baby pink colour, leggings (a staple for me) and some nude heels (yes another staple)
Accessories wise I went for simple with an oversized statement pendant necklace and a hair tie on my wrist (incase of an emergency!)

Next up comes hair and makeup, I love getting ready for a night out, I enjoy being able to get away with dark shadow and dramatic lashes.
I blow dried my hair and then went with the following:

Naked 3 was a must, the pink toned shades went with the pink top I had chosen and I finally got to use those darker colours in the palette!
My Tarte mineral foundation is a firm favourite too, good coverage without feeling like you are wearing makeup, I've been using this almost daily since I picked it up.
My L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara (which I've previously spoken about here) is still a top favourite, layered up it quickly builds a false lash look without the need for actual false lashes.
Elf Maximum Coverage Concealer - my holy grail concealer that I have been going crazy for, read the review here.
Elf Contouring Blush and Bronzer, I can't get enough of this little duo, expect to see a very happy review soon.
Lorac liquid liner: I got this in a set when I bought my Lorac Pro Palette at Xmas time and I have been loving it, it is basically a pen style liquid liner but super black and it stays put.
Christian Breton lipgloss - a lovely pink lipgloss that isn't sticky or uncomfortable to wear.

Finally I like to pre book a taxi for getting home after a night out, that way you know what time they will be there and you can avoid all those mini-cab nasties and be safety conscious. It doesn't do to just be hopping into any old taxi girls!
UGO have a cab-finder app for you to have a look at and get yourself a Taxi Quote so that you can have a fun night out without the worry after.

What I Wore:

Top: ASOS
Leggings: Topshop
Heels: Primark
Necklace: Majique Jewellery*

Hope you enjoyed the post today - stay safe and enjoy your future nights out :)

Garden Tea Party - OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today's OOTD is featuring a little dress I reviewed here.

I had a little garden party (making the most of the lovely spring weather we have been having here), garden parties are best served with a classy little day dress and plenty of sunshine!

I decided to keep the accessories to a minimum and go with some pretty clip on earrings that colour matched my dress (I don't have pierced ears) and some nude heels.

What I wore:
Dress: AngelEye*
Shoes: Primark
Earrings: Majique Jewellery*

I loved flouncing around my garden dressed up playing hostess for a day, what about you? Do you ever decide to have a dress up day just because you can?

AngelEye Fashion Review

Hello Everyone!

Today I am showing you a very pretty dress from AngelEye London.

AngelEye are a rapidly growing fashion company that have been featured in the likes of Vogue Magazine and more. They have gorgeous outfits to compliment a modern style but many are mixed with a classic vintage vibe that makes them stand out from the crowd.

The dress I was sent is a beautiful mid-length mint green dress with polkadot and lace print. The front of the dress is classic style but the back view mixes in a modern cut out design.
With its sheer panel at the back and the cut-out detailing, this is a 'pretty with attitude' dress.
Alternatively, you could wear a little cardigan to cover up the back and sport the 'classy lady' look.

I paired this dress with simple jewellery and nude heels for a classic day look but you could wear this with flats for shopping, no shoes at the beach or come those cooler days, tights or even leggings.

I love the mint green colour of this dress and the white polkadot paired with the navy blue lace print gives this dress an edgy contrast that doesn't come off try-hard at all, something that can be hard to achieve in a dress in my personal opinion.

Overall I think this is a gorgeous dress and AngelEye have some beautiful collections that you can see by clicking here, I especially love some of the beautiful floaty dresses they have that are perfect for this time of year.

What do you think? Have you got anything from AngelEye?

Pastel Flowers -OOTD

Hello Everyone!

Today's OOTD post is all about the traditional spring pastels and ditsy florals.

I went with a pretty blue sleeveless top with white floral detailing, paired with some distressed and ripped jeans, ripped jeans were all over the spring 2014 catwalks from designers such as Marques Almeida and Ashish... However, as I don't have a movie star budget, mine are from River Island.

For jewellery I went with a long-line pendant style necklace with a pastel flower ball. Pastels are always a firm favourite in spring bit I love them all year round if I'm honest.

What I wore:
Top: Next
Jeans: River Island
Necklace: Majique Jewellery*

How are you getting ready for spring? Do you prefer the girly floral trend or the louder flower prints we are seeing this year?
